You might try to merge the objects from the damaged file into a new scene. Some things might get dropped, unfortunately.

& also have a look in your 'autoback' folder, hopefully there will me some recent .mx files in there...

the problem was there wasn't any 3dsmax or autobak folder , because the chkdsk( mrrr....win2k) , deleted the directory and I only was able to get my hands on a corrupted max file :)

but finaly with a undelete utility (a damm good one :) I undeleted some good files.
