Hello everyone,

i wanted to ask if there is a tool for maya that allows you to quickly install/deinstall/manage mental ray shaders?

I find it rather annoying to quickly test new shaders because you have to copy several files all over the place (shader, dll-library, icons, mel-script) and then edit the maya.rayrc. And the same in reverse order for uninstalling.

If there is nothing like this, would such a thing be handy?
How about a function that allows you to zip up several shaders in one "addon"-file which you can then carry over to another computer and install them there with one click... XSI has a similar addon system - is there anything comparable for maya?

Thanks

oh man.. yeah there is a manager... but not sure EXACTLY if it does what your asking. Makes something related to MR less painful :) so sorry but i cant for the life of me rememebr what it is called. My work buddy uses it so Ill ask him - but in the meantime i would say check out highend3d. It hides somewhere there :)

Yashu's very useful Shader List:

http://www.highend3d.com/maya/downloads/mel_scripts/rendering/misc/3686.html

Can switch between Maya native and MR shaders..

and the 'rayrc' updater:
