I'd say it's pretty accurate, aside from the texture stretching on the jaw and the semi-modeled ear. Yep, I really am that bald! :hmm:

Hey Adam, that's looking really nice! A couple of things jumped out at me, though, as they tend to do with head models...

1) The corners of the mouth and the ridge under the lip look a little strange to me. I think that's the hardest part of the face to nail, so you're pretty close.

2) The eyeballs themselves seem too spherical, like they don't have the corneal bump on the front, and the lack of reflections in your eyes make you look mighty creepy! Oh, and some eyelashes would be great, too.

3) The skin shader needs a little something extra, too, as you're looking a little rubbery there. I found an amazing skin shader tutorial on here recently, and I'll try to scrounge up the link for you.

A few tweaks, and you're really gonna have something special here, so keep at it!

Yep, I had the hardest time getting the mouth right, and as you point out it still needs work. The under-lip problem is caused by something I forgot to clean up after welding the symmetry object.

Excellent observations all.

That would be really nice. This is my first attempt at realistic skin and I could definitely use some more instruction.

Thanks, I'm going to keep working on it and add some animation too. I may need to rework some of the edge loops first, though. :(

Nice work Adam

I almost have the same hairline :hmm:

Apart from what has been mentioned there seems to be a funny area around the nose bridge/forehead area, doesnt look quite right to me somehow.

Could we see a photo of you to compare to the image? :)

Stu.

I'd be interested to see the mesh--could you post a shot of that?

Great work!

Adam and Kiwi: Don't worry about your hairlines, maybe one day you'll get to play Capatin Picard in a star trek remake??

Hey, I noticed one other thing that's buggin' me about the eyes.... I think the iris and pupil might just be a little too large.

I don't mean to keep pointing out flaws, because otherwise this is a great model!

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. They are much appreciated. I can't get him to smile because he doesn't have any teeth yet! Here's a comparison pic:

Brent: after looking at this for a bit you are definitely right about the pupils. I think that's part of what gives the model that Dawn-of-the-Dead expression.

Forgot to ask, how did u do the hair? I suppose a plugin (hince your status :P).
Shave and haircut? Hairdepartment?
The chic (I can't spell sry) is too smooth compared to the real photo...
Alas really solid modelling.

[OFF-TOPIC] I really liked your last avatar, why did u change it? [/OFF-TOPIC]

Yep, the hair is done with Shave.

Not sure what you're refering to regarding the avatar, since this is my first one. You mean you prefer no avatar? :)

Nice work! :buttrock:

Some observations:

The nose needs more body in the nostrils.

Just above the eyebrows, looks like it needs a hint more of pulling out?

Check the tangency on the chin, is that a seam?

The chin itself needs to move out a little more.

Where are those smile lines? :)

Just below the chin needs more of a defined gullet.

Keep it up!

Thanks!

>Some observations:

Yep.

>Just above the eyebrows, looks like it needs a
>hint more of pulling out?

Agreed, but it's accurate to my actual forehead!

>Check the tangency on the chin, is that a seam?

Yep--need to fix that.

>The chin itself needs to move out a little more.

See above.

>Where are those smile lines?

Got me. Hard to put those in do to less-than-perfect edge loops. I'll see what I can do though, because IMO this is the biggest flaw in the model at the moment.

>Just below the chin needs more of a defined
>gullet.

??

>Keep it up!

Working on face poses at the moment as an exercise to learn some of the new animation features. Here's (http://members.directvinternet.com/amtberg/Self_P_Poses2.avi) a real short AVI (divx 5.02) showing some of the eye poses.

Hair is disabled for speed.

Wow! That's freaky! I like the offset on the eye lifts! :applause:
