Hi.

I was wondering, for explosion, smoke, fire-type effects, is stock footage generally used or are the effects generated? Opinions, anyone? And what do they do for TV shows/movies?

Thanks for any responses you might have.

I'd say most effects houses either create those type of effects or get some pyro dudes to make em, as for stock footage, this (http://www.detonationfilms.com/) site has some good stuff.

Depends the job, budget, etc.. Some we shoot, some we buy, some we make cgi. There is lots of stock footage of it.
