Hi guys,

I have a slight problem with gif animations... If you have a look for example at my current avatar, you can see how it is all weird...

How do you do this kind of animations.

I render a QuickTime movie first and then export it to a gif animation...

How can I achieve better results?

you can have a look at original QT movie HERE (http://sweb.cz/Animos_PC/images/Tvorba/_RiNG_anim_.mov)

Thanks

render to separate images (preferably tiff, which has no compression so no quality loss) and make them gif's in Imageready or something similar

And this way, I can get better results?

I'm curious there's not any app doing this better...

I'll have look at it, thanks...

I have done few gifs like that, buts it's quite difficult...

Thanks

like rikke said, use ImageReady (you already have this if you have Photoshop)

it has far better animated gif making technology, with many options to tweak to get what you want

however, keep in mind, animated gifs are and will always be fairly crude - they can only be 256 colors, and the processor speed of the end-users computer influences how fast it plays

And here is other problem I have with it...

If I try to upload my gif anim as an avatar, the size is too large...
And when I write a link to it, there is some mistake. I think it is not accepting GIFs...

So, how do I do that?

Any suggestions, ideas,...
Maybe take the file size down, but how?

cheers

In Imageready you'll find all the tools to get the most of the animation while maintaining a small file size (which is also shown), check the optimized tab to compare.

Head over to www.ulead.com They've got a little app called GIF Animator. You can adjust your GIF anim according to size as well as quality. It's really easy to work with, gives great quality and one can even specify frame rates in millisec/frame, have it stop after one play or run in a loop etc. etc..

I'm not sure if it's available seperately but it comes bundled with PhotoImpact 11 which costs only about $50 if memory serves (not sure if this is the total or upgrade price).
