View Full Version : SubDiv + MR rendering problem

Hi all,

I'm having some troubles with rendering a model I'm making. I'm modeling with polys then converting to SubDiv. If I convert to SubDiv and then render without tweaking any further the model seems to render ok. However, if I go and apply 'Full Crease Edge" to some edges, then the model renders out messed up.

Here's some examples - area of concern here is the hood:
SubDiv Full Crease NOT applied:

Anyone know what's causing this? It happens no matter what I have applied to the mesh. Any tips or clues on how to get around this?

I really would appreciate some advice on this issue I'm having with MR and SubDiv rendering. I'd rather not have to resort to a pure poly model as it's much more time consuming than converting to a SubDiv and creasing the necessary edges.

Would posting my project file be of any help in getting some feedback from you guys?

i usually add more edges to the edges that i want to keep hard before i convert the polygon model into subD. i practically never use full crease in anything.

Did you try putting a MR Sub-Div approximation node on the object(s)?

No, I didn't put any approximation nodes on the model. It seems just reinforcing the edges I want to have show up as 'sharp' instead of manually creasing edges.
