View Full Version : First Quadraped animation

this is a rat-like creature with a flower opening like mouth. It is my first almost completely maya based character. I modeled the cage mesh and rendered with Mental Ray. However I needed to export the mesh into blend to clean up the duplicate vertices from the instances I used to model it. And I added the basic teeth and tongue in blender. I exported the updated mesh back into blender. I'm using a fast sss skin shader, with procedural textures mapped to each of the layer colors. The only issue is that I can't get the uppersurface to appear bumpy, not sure what channel to map a bump texture too, or how to do this.

Also how do you create the Occuluded look that is often used for model renders? There has to be an easy way to do it. Anyway I will have a roughed out animation by tomorrow. I just need to figure how to host the file.

This is interesting. I thought UArts only taught XSI?

That was awhile ago. I wish they still did. Now all they teach is Maya. I'm not too fond of Maya though. I never finished the animation for this, which I kind of feel bad about. I created the character pretty quickly but I really like his look. And with zbrushing he could look really great! Instead I ended up teaching myself Zbrush and created 2 character for a group project. I haven't seen the results of that project though.
