Hi, i wonder if anyone knows how to solve my problem, y have a character but i cannot attach the other side , i try converting to polygons in adaptative mode (1 division per face) in order to do the attachment and it works, but i lose a considerable amount of quality when converting to subd`s again, if i try a higher level it will result in too much geometry, what can i do?

Ok, this halfway solved my own problem I just posted a little while ago, maybe it will help you to. I believe you are starting out with half your model in object mode:

select the half which you have completed. Right click to put into standard mode. Go to Sub Div Surf>Mirror and select the correct Mirroring option. Instantly delete the history on the new side while its still selected. Shift select the original side. Go to Sub Div Surf > Attach> options. Reset the window and deselect the Keep original option. Select Apply. Keep Undoing and Redoing until you get the proper threshhold amount. If you can't get it exact then Undo the Attach, right click on the original surface, select poly mode, then vertex and use the move tool to slightly nudge the vertex that is in the problem area a tiny bit closer to the other surface. Then right click again to go back to standard mode, select both sides and try the attach again....undoing and redoing (clicking apply so the window don't dissapear) the attach changing the threshold till you get it right. If any vertices are out of place in the center line of the model where the attachment occured just use the move tool to correct them.

This may be completly useless info to you and I could have misunderstood you completly. However I seen that nobody has answered you and I have been screwing around for hours trying to figure out the problem with my own model....which is not solved yet, but this works as an emergency hack job.

Good Luck!

Worked like a charm, thanks a lot John, i donīt know what was i doing wrong, i adjusted the threshold just twice and voila, i don`t know if the problem was that i didn`t delete the history or the mirroring (i duplicated the other half and scaled it negative 1), but somehow it worked, thanks a lot! if you ever come to Venezuela iīll buy you some beers for that!

No problem. I was having similar troubles last night and looked up the attach in the Maya help to see what I was doing wrong. I believe thats where I found out about the proper history delete thing. Anyways, glad to help! I'm not sure if thats the proper way to do it, but hey....it works.
