View Full Version : Rendering more than one camera in a scene
drawallday 04-09-2006, 12:36 AM Maya 5
Is it possible to automatically set Maya to render more than one camera in a scene file? For example, I have 3 different cameras (Cam_001_000-100, Cam_002_101-161, Cam_003_162-252) in one scene file. I don't see how Maya's Render Gobals can allow me to choose several cameras each with different start/end frames.
Thanks for your time!

You can set 3 files with 3 different camera and run 1 batch render to render them all.
That's normally how studios do it (ours anyway).
I had a fluke running 3 renderable cameras on the same time frame at a time before but I never do it in production. It always good running it the above way so each filename is unique and you can always go back to find out which render came from which file. Handy if you have hundreds of frames need to re-render.
You can also set 3 renderable camera in one file and run 1 batch file that specify those 3 cams on seperate command. Never try it though, but it should work. There is a flag in the command to select which cam you want to render.

each camera shape has a flag in the attribute editor that controls if the cam will be rendered or not.
AE > Output Settings > Renderable [X]Additionaly to this option you can specify in the Render Settings how outputfiles and directorys will be namen.
Snippet from the online help:
The following string produces no subdirectories, but simply a flat file structure: %s%_l%_c%_4n%.e
For example, MyScene_layer1_camera2_0001.iff

You should do a search for driveNull on highend3d. And yes, it works with windows too. If not, I'm sure there's not much tweeking to the code because we have used it for over a year at work.
