Well hello there people,
after a long time of searching for infromation on this subject i still fail to get a nice result.
so i'm posting.
the situation how i wanted to do it.
1) create base mesh in silo
2) detail it in zbrush / using "normal" zadd/sub and after i wanted to use projection master
3) use 3dsmax / +render plugin such as vray or mentalray
Well the basemesh is build and exported as OBJ
i import OBJ in zbrush and do the following:
- Create new texturemap
- use button tool/texture/auv
- subdiv model
- use standard tool to detail my model
already at this stage i wanted to try rendering it in 3dsmax. so i do the following:
- go back to level1 subdiv
- export displacement (tool>displacement)
- export the alpha channel
in 3dsmax i import original mesh.
tryed following help on using 3dsmax with mental ray (did the same as in the guide). i have no luck there it all looks weird.
one thing i got was my model expanded. but no detail where visible (seemd like all growed or something)
when using vraydisplacement mod. i tried several settings. very weird extrusion going on.
my guess if the mapping is not going correct. but i have no idea how to fix this.
i did not unwarp the model (can't do it in silo) so i thought i could use the AUV thingie in zbrush.
seems like i'm doing somethig wrong. i'v look/search much forums but i cannot find the correct infomation. i'll continue searching. but hope some1 can help me. i need this to be done before sunday.... so pretty desperate :)
