View Full Version : Fighter (spaceship)
jpgauvin 12-29-2002, 06:23 AM Hi :)
Here's a fighter I start yesterday.
Please don't mind the cockpit frame, I'll try to fix that later.
I'm still not comfortable with 3D Max. I used to work with Bryce, so you can see how big the step is...
Does someone know a tutorial on how to conform a shape with an another one ?
Thanks for your comments and help

Je parle bien français, mais je vais continuer ceci en anglais pour ceux qui ne comprennent pas le français.
You're right, I used Brazil for this image. I borrow it from a friend for a try. Awesome render engine. That will be my next purchase.
I didn't used any light on this project. Brazil did all the work.
I enabled the sky light in the " Brazil: Luma Server " window.
And here's the screen shot you ask :

Merci SEDAH

Here's an update of the space
I add some details at the bottom of the ship, remove the cockpit
and refine the intake.

You're right
For the interior I just put a low polygon shape for reference
I want to make some hi detail instrument panels and a pilote seat

Here's my first try for the interior of the cockpit
I know there's a lot of error, but I think that's a good start :-)

I had the exterior in mind, change the cocpits shape coz now it's a bit flat and it doesn't corespond well with the rest of the construction, I mean it's not fluent enough. Hope you'll get what I'm trying to say. Cheers

Sorry Crash
I'm not sure to follow
This is just the front panel facing the pilot
Can you tell me how you see the cockpit ?
I'll send a rough shape of the cockpit interior
You'll see what I have in mind
Thanks for your input :-)

I liked your cocpit back farther, had a "corvette" (car) feel and it felt more racey, and you could put some guns in the front "hump" or something along those lines.

ok, didn't have much time to draw this, but here's what I'm talking about. Greetz

Crash, now I understand, I thought you were talking about the inside of the cockpit. Sorry about that.
And you're both right, the new cockpit seem's missing something
I'll try adding a frame to it, a bit like Crash suggested
As for the gun, I'm not sure, it's a light fighter, but I'll try to add some gun, who's know what the result will be :-)
thanks again for your input

hehe well see with cocpit back it looked like a spitfire, now with it like this its more like a b17 bomber :S dunno what your going for though.

Here's an another try for the cockpit
Crash : I found it pretty hard to align the vertex for multiple rig
so I try with one rib.
I think the result is better than the other one
BitMAP : that will be cool

I suggest that you use a basic lighting setup too ontop of the skylight, that way you'll bring out much more detail!

You're right
I was too lazy to add one :-)
Seriously, I didn't put any light source because it was taking too long for the rendering.
I have to wait about 7 to 15 minutes everytime I want to see the progress.
I'll create an another file with a light source and a xref of the ship
On the next update you'll all see better the details
Thanks for the input CarlCampbell

Just wanted to say great job so far man, keep it up. It's really nice to see someone creating something other than just organic characters...and I love the crazy amounts of detail you put into the interior of the cockpit  nice :buttrock:

Very nice man
Though i have an objection about the cockpit, it looks too normal. This is a Cockpit you expect to find in an F16 not in a spaceship 100 years later. Its like you're in the 1920's and you design an F16 form 'aircraft', with a triplane's cockpit isnt it?
jpgauvin
02-18-2003, 04:40 PM
it's good to be back
After a few computer crash and several Max crash
I made a few mods on the side canon and on the body of the ship
Sumatra, your right. The cockpit look too close to an F16 cockpit
I'll try a more futuristique version :)

Good job so far, I like the cannons the most. I'm kinda in love with weapons and if you need ideas for the design and purpose don't hesitate to write me. Well I say it again good job and keep it up. Btw I would love to see an animation ;)
