aor: i think it's the background and the windows of the cockpit. i think putting it in a nice context and making the windows transparant would make it look more real. it would give you a feeling of the size of the craft.

cheers for all the responses :applause:

antipop: I was thinking of building an aircraft hanger of some sort with perhaps a large mechanical door opening out onto a desert environment, I'll give the interior of the ship a go aswell

Great ! finally a good quality ship !
Could you plase show wires, and some other shots ?
I'd be particularly interested how if the engines are as good as the rest :)
I checked out your site, you really seem to have some great quality work in there !

Antipop - yeah, i think ur right...

also, the dirt on it is relativly "large".. if that makes sense.. for instance.. if the pilot of this craft were to get muddy then hop into this beast, those mud spots wouldn't look like that.. see what i mean? especially on the windows.. how about so wipe marks? like lines etc?

again, looks good!

Beautiful design I really like it, one crit though, why do you need so many polys on those flat surfaces?? It sems like a waste of polys, you could optimize it and it would take 1/3 of the curent polycount. Still very impresive work . Greetz

I could optimize now I guess, I kept the polycount up so I could add extra detail if need be, I was thinking of baking the textures on it too as they're all procedural at the moment, would be suitable for game use then probably

thats is one of the sharpest renders ive seen around here.....
how come? what do you use, for it?

good work...

Nelis for sharp renders, if your a max user of course, try useing catmull rom filter, that should deliver you some sharp crispy renders. Greetz

PS Sorry for cutng into your thread squidinc.

Yep that's a nice if a bit heavy mesh : is it post or before smoothing ?
Like the engine , simple and effective .
one crit about it : it does't exactly show how efficcient / strong it is .

squidinc

thats the mesh as is, It was so I could add more details like panels etc if I needed them, I may do an image of the ship flying through a desert with lots of motion blur ( is that what you mean about showing its power? )

ckaos@om

Well yes more or less : what i mean is that since it's more of a glow than an exhaust ( not criticising here, just a design choice :)
it does'nt show if it can go fast etc ( ok realy nitpicking here) but if you'll be making an anim with m-blur i guess it doen't matter.
Do you plan on having more than one of these beauties flying around ?

at the moment most of my images are really to see how far I can get by only using procedurals, so I reckon I'm going to make a few ships, I've got all these ideas for space scenes flying through my head lol :bounce: :applause:

Damn, how could I miss this? I really like it alot, the GI and the solid shadow give a perfect illumination to the craft and the textures are great. Indeed, very well done!

the textures are very good, also i like it because it looks like it is all a low poly model..

shows how awesome they can get

hmmm one thing came o my mind that I missed earlier. With the model being high poly in those flat area's , why couldn't you spare some more poly's for the bevels? the edges are to sharp, especially for a desert scout. So get to work and bevel those edges a bit, afterwards it should look even more stunning. Greetz
