View Full Version : Head in construction
Hi.
Here's a head model with already many tweaking hours under it. (I use no reference). Still tweaking, but I think I'm coming to something I will like to texture. Ears still in progress, so unwelded. I'd like to know your suggestions. Be very nitpicky please! :)

looks very nice but i think you need to add more to the back of the head or maybe just round it out more but it looks kinda wierd
:insane:
also it looks like his head is tilted up but his eyes are looking straight forward... makes him look stuck up :p
front view looks sweet :) keep up the good work :buttrock:

Looking good, great work on the front of the face, nothing wrong there. The back of your head is to small, and the ear is very ovalish shaped, find some references of ears and fix it, here's my ear if you'd like to study from it http://mysite.iptic.com/wurxware/ear4.jpg

It's a Head! I like her eyes and lips a lot... but something doesn't look quite right in the 3/4 view, like the head is too skinny. Re-check the proportions on that, it should be 5 eyes wide, and it looks like the sides need to be filled out. Match up the center seam, at least, even if it isn't welded, that looks really weird. The mesh is... all screwy. It could use some simplifying in some spots, looks like a real headache to work with-- I don't know much about animation, myself, but the mouth looks like it'd be a nightmare to do anything with. Check around for what's a good head layout-- this thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26813) might help.
Little update.. tweakings here and there. I think I just have to finish the ears (which are horrible for now) and I'm gonna weld it and then texture. What do you think ? http://perso.wanadoo.fr/v-h/mathias/nh03.jpg

you have lots of triangles..... you gotta fix it, also the nostrils look too small.....

The side view shows that the head and the neck are too flat... looks like a large part had been cut off. Try to add some mass there, and maybe scale it along it's horizontal axis a bit, too (the face is a little flat from the side as well).
The other problem is in the construction, there are too many random triangles which wouldn't help if you'd like to animate it.
But it has character and looks nice already!

just curious, but what's the importance of having only square poly's and not triangles?
