Hi,
My name is Dan, i am managing the Red Online, MMORPG project and leading the story team.
The project began as 2 friends (Sam and i) working on a portfolio piece as a step into the games industry. After recruiting a team of pro coders the project took a definate upturn.
We ditched Valve's Half-Life 2 Source as an engine and have just completed the methodology for our own. Essentially making this a commercial project.
I dont have any money to pay anyone yet, so work will be payed through an a agreed royalties contract. But this project isnt about the money...
I am well aware that there are very few good mmorpg's out there. The genre is a hive of dull and predictable clones that we are sick of playing. And hence this project is about taking mmo's to the next level, the next gen.
The public story can be read here, but has (in the dev team section) been crafted into a master piece, with twists that shred the genres accepted excuses for plot to scraps. But it is not only poor plot that plagues mmo's it is systems poor interaction with plot that ruins them. And our teams fresh approach to the way an mmo is played, with attention to detail in all aspects along with hopes for an interesting visual style will make this game a winner.
Coding wise the game is underway. Its modeling and mapping that is not so hot. We have a few modelers on the team but most are un-expirienced and lack the skills to produce professional quality models (or as close as).
So, i am recruiting 3-4 talented 3D modelers to aid the model team leader in the creation of:
-Main character models
-Npcs
-Boss Mobs
-Adventurous normal mobs
-Important/high level items
-Important enviromental aspects
You will be expected to map/texture the models yourself and animate them where needed.
If you would like to know more about the project, or want to get involved you can email me at: dan.lodge@ntlworld.com, otherwise feel free to add me to msn: Gnarleyking@hotmail.com.
Thanks for reading,
Dan. (Project Manager)
