Stevie-rae, you are just too much! I pronounce you the Z-Brush master! I haven't seen anything like it! How long did it actually take you to learn the software and how long have you been using it for?

That image rocks!!!
I tried zbrush but could nt figure out the 3d controls whatsoever..all I could seem to do was make a blobby mishapen sphere......so I'm baffled as well as to how this type of work is possible....maybe if I found good tutorials or something...:hmm:

Nice work.
Seems I need to try this "Zed"-Brush.
:p :D
I like the first image - great background and color - but a bit of light on the head and shoulders to bring it forward perhaps. What a great model!!

Oh... my... god!
I'm sure it's not a real 3D. Someone please tell me that Stevie-rae took a real photograph of that creature and tweaked it a bit in Photoshop to make it appear more 3D-like.
(Please ignore me, I'm just VERY jealous)
Excellent work. You single-handedly perked my interest in Z-Brush. Is that face modeled from scratch or a modified version of an earlier model.

Again a full on model in Zbrush! AHHH!HHHH
why is it that everything (at least from you) is always a full on shot, never from a diffrent angle? May I suggest that you try a diffrent angle? This angle is boring and really getting to me, The peice would prolly strike a better chord with me from a diffrent angle. I think you can do so much with how you position everything in your scene, more so if the character isn't dead middle, but perhaps sneaking in our out or sitting to the side, or menicing from the top.

The second reminds a lot those illustration that u could find on old pc game's cover...:D
Personnaly i prefer maybe the first one coz its got a weird ambiance and feelings than in the second wich is more realistic and there is less depth..

BM, I'm not gonna go out on a leg too much here, but I'll have a shot at it. THis may have to do with the 2.5D-ness nature of Z-Brush. The scene is almost like a canvas. In my quick experience with the demo, I don't remember seeing any cameras so maybe zooming in on the piece loses resolution or what not. Also, I recall Stevie-rae mentioning something like the image being completed only from this angle, and if you turned it around it wouldn't be so detailed and not even painted on the other side. I'm not so sure though, hopefully he'll explain :)
The way I see Z-Brush is like sculpting, and then taking a photograph from a single angle that you have been working from. Of course, due to the lack of an animation feauture (yet), there is no need to complete the whole model in 360º as you probably might want to show just one view of it.

Hi ,
minyusf : Zbrush in my experience is a joy to work with.
It's Intuitve and fast ,with its real time rendering ,which suits most of my creative needs .When I get an image in mind ,I like to get it down ..driven with those initial thoughts and feelings as quick as possible, staying in that creative state of mind .
Carl :Thanks for trying to help .I'm not going to answer the question ,becuase ...one ,this guy gave me that bored cr*p on my first post. Two ,I've only previously put two images up hear at CGTalk, this being my third . Three ,I create my images for myself ,
first !. Four ,no one is forcing him to look at the work !!:thumbsdow
Anyhoo , to answer your questions Carl .I'm still learning the software, but the learning curve is a friendly one ,once you get your head round it's new and unique way of doing things .
I've bee using the programme for a little over a year now.
Titan : There some great tutorials at ZBCentral in the qiucklinks .
I'm currentley working on some new tuts for my site.
Frye : The face was modeled from scratch .
Lildragon :Thanks for downloading the image, glad you like, mate!
Thanks for the great feeback all ,much appreciated .
Steve.
Fantastic work once again bud, love your dynamic colour use

That is a very impressive illustration! It would be even better if it was a usable model IMO, Zbrush seems great for stills, but wouldn't it be nice to take that model and rig it? I don't use the software, but it seems right now to be limited to creating psuedo 3d stills. Not to detract from an amazing piece of work, I just think the software should chose a definite path. What was your time frame for creating the piece? Could you have created a "real" model in the same amount of time(something poseable, and animatable?)?

z-brush can export obj files of the z-sphere models. So you can put them in your favorite package and rig\animate.

Beautiful as always.
Come to think about it, you have only posted 3 pictures made in Zbrush and all three got to the front page of CgTalk
Tbonz816:
Have you ever thought that there might be people out there who like to do stills?
Not everyone likes to animate and do shorts, some might even just be pleased with making stills which is perfectly understandable for me.

Looks great, I realy like the steelworker feeling of the first shot. It makes the creature lok as though he is a wasp in his hive. Maybe some nast wings or a biting jaw might spice him up, even though he needs none. Love the style and atmosphere, I guess I'm just hooked on the insect idea with his ass.
Great Work.

Agraba, I'm entitled to my opinion, which is what I posted, I didn't say it wasn't a great piece of work! :annoyed:

They have nothing in common. Although, Z-Brush does have many features that Deep Paint does as its almost like a 3D photoshop. Z-Brush is a modelling and texturing package (animation yet to come) and Deep Paint 3D is only for painting. In a way, Z-Brush would be some sort of 2 in 1 relatively to Deep Paint. Some poeple find Z-brush fustrating, and therefore model in their native 3D app and then texture in the same one or use Deep Paint. Z-Brush is stand alone, Deep Paint could be seen as a plugin, it makes no sense to own ONLY Deep Paint, in other words...

that means if i'm doing a model in max... and i can import to zbrush for texturing or if i need to edit, i can also edit the model in zbrush.... where else i can only import and texturing in deep paint 3d...
Thanks carl......:applause:
