I personally think it's a great idea. The lighting needs some work. It's a bit flat, and needs some warmth and better shading. I think the table needs a better texture. You can see the rainbow effect of bad compression.

I agree with you 3dzealot I am in need of a new table texture, and I also need to play around with the shader a bit. I am pretty happy with the lighting though, I think I got the look I was going for, although I think I might increase the ammount of illumination that the candle is giving off. As a note about the lighting, I am making use of the free mental ray plugin, the scene is 95% lit by final gather and hdri. (I like the setup you have going with your website, I look forward to its completion ).

Upon re-reading my post, I forgot to say one thing. The lighting just needs some warmer colors. It sort of looks washed out, as though the room is lit by a flouresent light. Just a thought.
Again, I really dig this idea, and the models look great!
Hey, BTW, if you're refering to my site, thank you so much, I've never gotten a comment on it before. :D

Ya, your site looks like its coming along well. As far as warm lighting, what would you suggest. For now I just have it being lit by the candle, and the bounced light off the room.

Colors like oranges, and reds. Right now it feels like white and blue light, but that's just my opinion. You mentioned a that the walls are "bouncing" light. Is that bounce from the candle, or are the walls emitting light. I'm trying to track down the source of the main kicker in your scene.
Get in a dark room and light a candle, and tell me it matches you lighting setup. I know you like how the image looks now, and it's not my place to say how you image should be, but I'd use a very gothic look and dark, warm lighting to make the subject of the image jump out.
Thanks for look'n at my site, and your nice words. Hopeing to get all my content finished in the first part of the new year.
Cheers!
