View Full Version : Environment: Fantasy gnome house
Clondike7 12-28-2002, 04:24 PM Hey.
Heres something Ive been working on for about 4 hours total. I mean to finish this WIP and I want it to be a very detailed model.
THAT'S WHERE YOU COME IN!!
I need you guys to help me out. Give me ideas on what to tweak, or what to add; maybe something I havent thought of.
This is supposed to be a mini-mini-house. After I'm done with the model I'll add rocks, dirt and towering grass blades.
Thanks in advance!

looking pretty good so far, it could do with roof tiling, the door needs a handle, where are the windows?(little round ones). perhaps have a light or lantern outside the door, needs a chimney aswell sort of crooked one, that should be enough to start with, GO GO GO:bounce:

Thanks squidinc!
The windows were done, just werent seen from the angle before.
I added what you pointed out.
It had a chimeney, the cube on the roof; but i liked ur crooked idea so i changed it.
Heres the update.
Gimme more ideas!!!!!!!

Quite interesting, Clondike. :)
My ideas:
1. Some webs... ;)
2. How about some household items? Buckets? Barrels? a broom?
3. how about adding those broken, old-type windows with windowpanes? Cartoony style.
Hmm... believe it or not, but I ran out of ideas. :(

Hi Clondike7, great start!
Ohh, this will be fun to tweak!
My $0.02
1. it looks like your four tower roofs are modeled to have something that may be a pinnacle/finial. Make sure you make those a distinctly different material from the roof shingles
2. on the main roof I’d maybe add a weathervane
3. I’d thicken up the rood edge/fascia so it resembles maybe an 1.25 inch thickness for a plank roof w/cedar shingles laid over it
4. then under the fascia have exposed rafters extending beyond the fascia. Give them a decorative, Victorian type cut to them instead of square cut edges
5. I’d make the four tower bases out of lannon stone or some type of square cut stone, then make the four main walls stucco w/half timbering interspersed within the stucco.
6. then the front door would no longer have the stone corbelling around it, but that would be handled with a timber header and side casing
7. and the window would then have a timber header/casing also.
And for the setting it would be fun to see this in a summer forest and also a winter setting buried in snow.
Just some thoughts, great work so far.
And the suggestion from squidinc “it could do with roof tiling”. But that may be handled in the texturing for you.

FusionDG: i honestly dont understand some of your suggestions, im 17, not an architect. could you 'dumb down' some of your ideas. (#s 1,2,4 and 5).
i didnt have time to do all the corrections i wanted to do today cause i gotta go out to a friends activity, but I will return!!!
Keep up the ideas!

Hi Clondike7,
Humm, 17 doing work like this.
Being in architecture for a while now ;) and just learning this whole “3D modeling thing”, it never ceases to amaze me the quality of work that some of the younger members show here. You’re gonna have a bright future if you keep at this!
I’ll put something together when I get a chance and post it here for you. Keep up the good work!

add a fence, better yet, a living vegetal fence. like, would be cool to do something cartoony, like big stuff, the size of the house.
maybe a gnome orgy? :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: gnome orgy! gnome orgy! gnome orgy! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
