View Full Version : Inanna Idol - Fertility [Nudity] :D
lehthanis 04-05-2006, 06:04 PM This is kind of weird...its an old piece I'm resurrecting out of principle. I'm using ambient occlusion on the material, and I have a bit more detail to add before I break up the symmetry (thus losing the line down the middle) The front needs more depth, and some things aren't curvy enough if you know what I mean.
This is Inanna, in idol form as a representation of the fertility of woman. Inanna idols came in many different shapes and sizes I guess, but this one was particular of fertillity, hence the ample proportions and generous offering pose. Its supposed to be kinda crudely done, because its an ancient carving, so keep that in mind with your crits and suggestions.

Nice modelling, although I think it's a bit overlit. You can hardly see the base..

Yeah I'm still trying to iron out the render itself...I'm not too pleased with the material there...and the base material is already redone along with some other things...new render coming shortly.

I'm still fooling around with the material...and I'm also goign to give it a little underlighting, since all this lighting comes from above...you were right about being overlit, and I thank you for helping me get rid of that ;) Here's a new render...I added some depth in the breast/hands area...still gotta add more details though.

I think that the red base takes away from the model because its such a huge contrast to the green, my eyes are drawn to the red, I think you should try some other colors, or make some way to make sure your attention stays on the model. Other then that it is looking pretty good. Can we see your reference picture if you have one? So that we can get an idea of what it is supposed to look like :).

http://www.womanwisdom.com/store/statuary.html scroll down and you'll see it
I just started modelling her jewels...still a little sloppy, but the cleanup process will take care of all that. I'm eventually going to switch to a black marble like in the reference image above. Think that would be better?

For help on picking the right color to go with the statue material, you should check out www.colormatch.dk (in Internet Explorer.). With the sliding bars you should select the color of the statue itself, you'll see which colors go with the statue color.

Awesome, thanks! I'll check that out and implement for the next render.
