man, im hesitant to post my work here.... so many talents! i hope to receive some useful critiques and comments on this little piece i am working on!
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/2458/islandcopy8jd.jpg
I want to create more depth and detail but i am not sure how to.... working with light etc is challenging. i also plan to add another element into the picture on the right, a ship/shark/alien/thunderbirdsisland/whatever. :)
thanks in advance

Hi!
Don't be shy,...frequenters here are kind!
I like your comic style, and I think in the color progress, it will be nice to keep it..
So, maybe you have to work with simplicity (for ex, joins betweens diff parts in clear lines, and not to much, or not at all realistic material )
For ex, the island is a bit blurry for me...
To have depth, try to invert the blue on the sea (foreground becomes background..)
It is just my opinion!
Perhaps, in general work on it like a Flash anim style(software)...if you like this kind
Hope you understand me
Bye!

Grass has a strange colour, but I like the character!
Go on, nice image

Try to add more shading to the island and maybe make the bottom of it more round to make it look less flat. Actually the island looked better in the first image. Try to keep the shading when you add the grass. I agree with dEDa about the grass color.

added some more details, reflection in the water, and started to work on a sail, on the right of the picture, balance seemed to be thrown off by the boxes on the left. let me know what you think!

Well the only thing I really see is the shadow underneath the guy sitting on the shipwreck wouldn't really be there if the light source is coming from his left.

I like that you removed the island, the ship makes for a cute addition.

What's "No Shark!" supposed to mean? I cannot tell other than maybe the shark is trying to be funny... but it could just be I havent had enough coffee this morning.

I like post #7 the best - it is simple but fully conveys the humour of the situation.

I like the concept with the boxes etc. I also like the clouds very much ^^. The only thing I can think of is that the shark's fin is too round in my eyes. I think it needs to be more flat. But it can be I'm the only one with that problem, so dont take it too serious ;)
