View Full Version : UV-Mapping problem
schmu_20mol 12-28-2002, 01:22 PM so here we are ;)
first of all i'm using LW...i'm sure someone would have been asking if not mentioning it for myself ;)...so after atlas mapping the front part of a face i created i got 2 polys cross connected all over my uv-map ....so now it'd be a nice thing to know how to cut them properly....because just moving the connected point results in a basic tweak of the render of the map....does anyone have a solution for me ?
thx :buttrock:

c'mon fellas...no one got an idea?
hope you're joking...there should be a way to solve this ;)
Well, you could fix it by unwelding (ctrl u) and then drag the vertices where you want them.
Perhaps you should consider using cylindrical mapping instead of Atlas for your face? They usually gives you better UV's to paint on.

*Obi Wan voice* Use the cylindrical projection!
Seriously, cylindrical projections (on the Y-axis) work best for heads ;)
And yeah, when editing your UVs, always unweld your points - that way they do not affect the rest of the map. Doing this will enable you to fix those polys that are stretching over the map.
Have you read this thing that I wrote for the Lightwave site?
Standard Projection Techniques Vs The Painstaking Art of UV Mapping (http://www.lightwave3d.com/tutorials/surface/texturing_for_dummies_002/index.html) :)
Also, you can check out this (http://leigh.cgcommunity.com/making_of.htm), which is a little bit that I wrote about how I went about modelling and texturing my orcs head that I made in LightWave :)
Hope this helps!
