View Full Version : TP questions
Hi all..
TP seems like a powerfull tool.. but I have trouble get some results with it..
Is there some more tutorials for TP out there?
One of the features I would dig into is the TFragment node.
Can u use it with a polygon object?
( check www.scanline.de -> disaster page.. they used TP for
3dsMax.. )

Hi,
yes to both. You should start with the tutorials included in the package. They should give you a good start.
Regards,
Srek
Yes I have done the tutorials.. but they just "shimmer" on the surface.. I cant get any further.. :(
( its not like any other "programming" tools I´ve tried.)
It would have been easier to understand if it worked like basic or so ;)
you know, something like:
....
10 if collision(Pgroup"1",Pgroup"2") = true then gosub 40
20 redraw scene
30 goto 10
40 fragment (Pgroup"1")
50 return
...

( Yes, I would see some more tutorials( with more pictures :))
anyone.. any examples on fragments....??
Cant get it to work...

I put together an experiment that has a stream of TP spheres being fragmented by a light into smaller spheres. I'd offer it to you, but I don't have anyplace to upload it. Let me know if you want it, and a place I can upload it or an email address I can send it to.

some basic presets
->resources, first link
"A preset collection for Thinking Particles including an emitter and 13 modifiers such as gravity, wind, turbulence, particle-particle collisions and more - all ready to use without any XPresso setup. There's a description included in the archive."

OK
it took me some time to figure it out myself but here it is:
in this scene I have a normal TP emitter (Null object) using Sphere as its particle; floor is setup as deflector
The first particle group is set to 'Group 1' which is given gravity by PPass'ing it to PGravity (for which a null object named gravity is set); it's also passed to PDeflector so the particles now they should bounce back from 'floor'.
In Pdeflector I made an output for 'event' which connects to PFragment (look at the settings)
Output 'Born particles' connects to PGroup 'Group 2'
These are PPass'ed to PGravity(gravity) and PDeflector(floor) also so they also know how to bounce back, otherwise they just drop down...
I hope this helps...
Good luck, for any questions please mail me...
May I ask if you could post the scenefile also..?

Thanks DaliFan!
I could use visual help like this often, 'cause just the theory doesn't always lead you where you want to go, especially with things like TP and XPresso...
