Is it possible to create a realtime rendering engine, inside 3dmax?

If so, where do I start?
I have lil experience with programming, So i dont know if this would be a huge task for just myself.

My boss asked me if I could look into creating some sort of render window, that views the model in realtime with shading and lighting. Something like Deep Explorer, which we currently using for that task.

Greenwu,

there was sometime ago a script here in the forum that rendered viewports.
Depending on your computer this would give you some realtime experience.

If you have MAX 8 you can use the realtimeshaders using the scene effects loader utility.

Third you could use DirectX shaders on your models.

And there is ActiveShade.

There could be more possibilities, too.

rdg, I dont think our VR system could handle realtime or DirectX shaders.?.
