Title: The First City Of The Klingon Imperium
Name: Sean Samuels
Country: Canada
Software: Lightscape, Photoshop

Welcome to the sovereign First City of the Klingon Imperial Crown of Qo'noS, the new quarter. Okay, I'm being a really huge fan boy on this one. I like Star Trek a lot. This is how I always envisioned the Imperial Capital of the most martial race in the Roddenberry Universe. Hot, stormy and polluted. The setting is the 24th Century (Picard's era) & the lights that stem from most of the towers are actually fields of energy that are there to help clean the atmosphere of ionized toxins after the Klingon's only moon, Praxis, exploded. The models were created in Lightwave and the rest is Photoshop work. The foreground foliage is from photo reference as well as the sky. Hope you enjoy my small lapse into geekdom...constructive comments welcome. :)

Nice city  You got the mood right too. It could have looked too crowded but the lights help distinguish certain buildings. 4*

I saw "Klingon" and I had to look. I love Star Trek as well, especially Klingons. Wonderful picture! It does show the greatness of the Empire, and what a awe-inspiring site to behold.

Stunning city there!

As I recall there was one episode (or movie) in which this city was shown...it looks exactly as I remember seeing it, did you use a reference from that?

Hey man nice work. I like a lot of what your doing. Really nice lighting and colour variation. I really like the beams of light coming out of the tops of the buildings. But those spot lights aren't really working. They are just to razor sharp.

I wonder if the trees are appropriate for your subject. But then again I know nothing of the Star Trek universe.

Over all, once you loose the bat signals, I think this is one of your strongest pieces. Good job bro!!

SeifoSid: Thanks for the thumbs up. I am glad that you like the mood.
Stillx: Glad you like the image. To answer your question, no. I started with a thumbnail & then jumped to modeling and texturing the city itself. Then I rendered several angles & "comped" them if you will in P-shop. The only photo montage happened with the foreground plants.
Gmax: Thanks! I drew inspiration certainly from Blade Runner and modern-day megalopolis' like Sao Paulo, Hong Kong & New York.
Cubo: Glad you liked it, Cubo.
Rawwad:Thank you, man. I'm pleased that you like the archtecture.
DarkSkills: Appreciated D. :)
Tlaine: Ha! ha! I just love the martial culture of the Klingons, their "gravitas" and ideas of greatnes and honor...not to mention their Byzantine politics. I'm happy you enjoyed the pic.
Stuh505: Really? No I didn't. I haven't seen anything like this in Star Trek (Tv or Film) that I can remember. If you do see it please e-mail me a link that would be cool. Thanks. :)
Russta:Tanx! :)
Thenextside: Timmy m'boy! Good to hear ya. Thanks for the critz. Indeed the beams aren't defused enough. But that is what I get for finishing this and posting it at stupid o'clock in the morning. Ha! ha! I was too bleary eyed to notice! :) Thanks man. Talk to you soon.
