View Full Version : smooth shifting a la LW
Jacobo 12-28-2002, 01:50 AM is there a way to "smooth shift" polys in XSI as in LW? Like, what I want to do is select a ring of polys and extrude them together along their normals... Extrude along axis just doesn't seem to work for that...
thanx

i donno if it's possible.
But try to select your polys then press ctrl+d (they will be extruded with 0) then scale those polys? (sorry i m really not familiar with XSI)
should be as fast as in LW with XSI hotkeys ;)
you can also make a macroscipt that will do that operation alone and assign it to a shortcut, then as soon as your press your shortcut key it will extrude the poly with 0 and switch to scale mode as soon as the polys are extruded...
give it a go =) (until someone come with a perhaps more handy solution)

If you use v3 itīs easy. You simply have to check: MCP>Transform>Transform Local Components independently.
Hit Ctrl+D and translate the polys locally.
In older versions try Model>Deform>Push.
