View Full Version : Human head (male)
LordGolem 12-27-2002, 06:04 PM Here is another human head I've modeled in Maya, he's still a wip. The model is complete, I don't know if I'll texture it, I want to model another head.
C&C are welcomed!! I want to put my skills at a very high level!! :p

Wonderous how some good models in here get no replies and some of the crappiest end up with 100 just for the fun of things :D
Ahh the irony of life :D
The model is good, good job so far!
what i can see wrong is the lighting and the nose
More work should do it! :D
Looking good there . I know it was jus mentioned above but yeah heh really the only thing crit-wise is just a bit more tweaking of the nose.
Any certain technique you favor when it comes to making a head?
Keep it up! :)

Thankyou for comments :D
What should I tweak on the nose? Maybe the nostrils side is too thin?
And yep, the lighting is not so good, it's just an area light and a bounce light :D Maybe I'll do a better rendering and I'll post it!
About the technique, I used polys to do this head and then converted to subd. Usually I add thin details in subd mode going down in the hierarchy (usually not more than level 2). However the great job is done in poly, infact if I simply smooth the poly version, the result is not so far away from the subd version.
Righton. Witht the nose I think just some tweaking of the nostrils, to give them a bit more definition. An possibly the little area near the top where it meets the brow. Seems at the moment if he were to frown or squint his eyes there wouldnt be much of a lil wrinkle that usually forms there ya know?

looks good, i agree with the nostril being to thin. add some thickness to it then it should be alright. did you use a source, if so can you post it?

I'll tweak the nostrils soon.
About references I used a photo from fineart.sk just to have good human proportions and also I used my anatomy book. I don't want to make a double of an existing person, so after making the wole shape and tweaking proportions, I started working without references but my anatomy book.
About the top of the nose there are expression wrinkles (like what I have :annoyed: ). Everyone has more or less of this wrinkles and a lot of people has them even when young. However I could soften a lil them.
Thankyou all for comments :wavey:

Here is an HDR test render done to have a better lighting :buttrock:
I also tweaked a little the geometry. :)
Ahh ok I can see it a bit better now... course I am on my latop now an not at work anymore heh my work computer sucks haha so I couldn't really see the wrinkle :)
Keep it up!
