With fast and fur, is their any increase in render speed over dpit or hairdept? Am i right in thinking it also renders polygons. I like the only distribute where the camera is looking feature, but does this just help the ram handle all those polys, or does it also help the GI engine calculate faster.

Im an architecture student and would be using it for grass (possibly some rugs) and hair is too expensive so looking for a good alternative grass solution - I already have HD monster edition. I also have onyx tree for my trees so just looking for a grass solution that could be quicker to render than HD - no 'out of memory' signs would also be good!

Thanks

My experience has been that F&F is faster than Hair Dept. Don't know about DPIT. F&F is a very nice alternative and Renato is coming up with a few new attributes that make it even more attractive.

Hope this helps.

For what I know, Fast & Fur is based on polygon, and if you wanna use it proficiently you must have a lot of ram, but for sure you can use it very well with 1 GB.

It should speed up a little bit GI too. Fast & Fur is really a great piece of plugin and worth every euro. Everything is interactive in realtime so it is really a pleasure to work with.
I never used DPIT, but Hair Department features are really simple compared to F&F.
