Sub-Surface Scattering I believe. It's a material that gives your objects a bit of tranparant luminence (if that even makes sense). It's good for objects like wax, skin, etc.....where you can halfway see light through the object. Like looking at your hand with a flashlight behind it. Hope this helped some.
