View Full Version : Plane/Car/Hovercraft [WIP]
Agraba 12-27-2002, 01:32 PM I really don't know what is going to happen to this.
I am just following an image i have in my head and this is what i got so far.
You might wanna call it an Ultra WIP since i have no idea what this is going to look like in the end.

Should i take it that it is perfect, which i seriously doubt.

It looks pretty cool, but I'm not sure what you want us to say. It's your design, and it's not textured, there is no wireframe, and not a whole lot of details.
Give us some updates, shaded wireframes, and some more to look at and you'll get more replies.
Looks cool so far.

Thanks for the few C&C's i got.
Right now i am thinking of making it a really fast car with jet engines :buttrock: but i have a few doubts.
And of cource there is a small matter of doors (Can't belive i did not think about making the doors)
Cource if i made this a spaceship it would have the doors at the bottom so that would not be that big of a problem :D
Here is pic of my wire, this is of cource before i meshsmooth it (for all the newbs out there ;) ).
EDIT: Oh yeah and i have no friggin idea how to compress images good :annoyed:

I often got tjhe same issues when i start to "play" without the guidelines... but i think that the more i "play" this way the more interesing thing are created and i've go to say thay this is great fun and a way to well know the tools... just a thought

It definitely could use some seams and some texture. It looks very CG because everything is soo clean and shiny. Maybe a large engine exhaust (like a jet) in the center of the rear section would help to balance out those little vents in the front.

That's about normal, actually. Usually it takes more than 100 before a reply comes in.
Well, it's shiny and nifty whatever it is.. I wouldn't worry about doors myself, I'd make it a hovercraft and put a seam around the cockpit so it opens like a fighter jet would... but that's me.

Yeah you are right, the rear is no good.
I am having a real hard time coming upp with a good idea for the rear.
Right now i am thinking of making that opening in the rear a big jet engine but then again i have to ponder over some other ideas :hmm:
Better get back to some Maxing.

You want critiques - You got'em LOL! Overall I like the feel of you model, but if it is to work in a planet with an atmosphere it's not going to go far with that drag inducing front end. Remove the bottem lip and you have a convincing jet boat, otherwise tone down the upper lip up front. Granted this is a fantasy vehicle but you don't see many airplanes shaped like parachutes. This model looks a little sketchy, If this was manufactured there would be a set thicknesses for the "trim" around window openings etc. That's just a fancy way of saying that you could tighten up your details a little bit. I personally prefer you first models design for the front windshield sans moonroof. Other than that, I like the styling of your craft and the way you've rendered it.

I've been thinking about it for awhile, and came to the conclusion that the only way to get into that thing would be a scene similar to the one in Minorty Report with the red car. :curious:

possibly give it more panels, let it feel "built" that really has more grounding in realitity then perfection :D, and i'd suggest the upper lip on the front not be there, just a panel over something, like sensors or guidance or something... make it feel like there is something inside (basicly less shapes carving "into" your model.
