View Full Version : Brazil renderer problem
sepehr 12-27-2002, 01:17 PM Hi
I've faced a problem rendering a scene using brazil.
When I render the scene in its base scale every thing is ok.
then I scale everything to its proper scale (here about 10,000 times) regarding
other objects in other
scenes and here it comes the problem.
everything renders in plain black.
So I change decay scale and play with some options but nothing changes till
I change the Color/intensity Multiplier to something like 100 times bigger and
here it comes a black & white low sampling render while I have not changed the
sampling ranges of the renderer.
I have added other lights too but the result is the same.
What's gone wrong?
Thank you very much
here is the picture which shows all of these:

When you re-scale the objects, the objects aren't going out of the range of the lights are they?

No,they don't.
I even tried lights without decay.
The problem should not have come from how big the objects are because I have other objects in the scene almost the same size which render properly.
Maybe it comes from the car-paint material which is used(?)

Ahhhh...is your background (environment) set to black?

Yes it is black, but I don't see any relation between BG and bad render because of scaling.(?)

It's difficult to pinpoint without seeing the scene. Could you post more images, or even the scene? I was just thinking that maybe it was reflecting more of the black background? Dunno, again, just throwing darts at this point.

Just thought of somthing else, the object that you are re-scaling, is the car paint material uvw mapped on this object? If so, maybe that's not scaling properly and you should re-UVW map it after it's scaled?

Hey folical9
Thanks for your attention.
Please make an sphere and flip the normals
Then assign a carpaint material to it and
place a brazil camera and an omni light inside it.
Then select all and then rescale every thing to something like 1000 times bigger.
Now re-render it and everything is black.
??
Why?

Not seeing that problem here...
You're using a decay.. when you scale everything up, did you include the light with 'everything' ?
Because when I don't, i.e. the light isn't scaled up, then yes.. the render is dark.
Makes sense - you're scaling everything so that the surfaces are too far for the decaying light to reach properly.
As a sidenote... you should really check into the Brazil r/s 1.0+ support available to from the Registered Users Account.

No.there is no decay.
I tried this from a camera outside another sphere and it worked.
The problem only happens when the normals are inverted.
I'm tring to upload the Max file...

OK
My site server was offline(!) for a while.
Now here is the link to the Max file.
When you render it there's no problem.
Now select all and scale them and see what happens.
What's wrong?
There's no decay, there's no limited range for light but
something is wrong...
Is it a bug?
I'm using Brazil1.0.3
