View Full Version : lemon skin! recreate an old deepshade thingy
prayas 04-02-2006, 09:03 PM hi there.
Haven't posted a long time. So back with a question maybe sounding nooooobbieee.
I need to create a lemon skin. First step i looked at the old deepshade database found an old shader from ages ago. I first thought it was all shader/ no tex. but inside there was a little tex for the bump.
I need an idea of how to recreate this map with build in c4d tools noises etc.
thinking of layers but i can't get it right.
attached the bump.
any ideas?

Why do you want to use shaders for this? I think the best way would be to just take some pictures of lemon peel, scan them in and use them as bitmaps.

just the general question. I love using shader where ever i can. What i really like to figure out is how these surfaces work and how the can be created.
your advice sounds clear but i like to do it the other way. No need for a texture. I don't like to use textures if there is another way to work this.

maybe you can experiment with the cheen shader like DiGiFran did for an orange in a contest on the spanish forum (http://www.c4des.com/c4desforo/index.php?topic=879).

Ben
In the downloadsection on the Maxonsite (materials and goodies) you can download all the Cheenshaders in one free package. There is not only an orange like ben vd mentions, but also a lemon (limon). So that might help you.
