Hello everyone, Im new here!

(Please tell me if I am posting this is the wrong forum)

Anyway, im only 16 years old (please dont flame me!) and I just got into drawing not to long ago, about 1 month to be exact!

My past art experience was a drawing and painting course that I took for about 2 weeks, then switched to another because I wasnt supposed to be in it.

Anyway these are the things I am interested in learning how to do.

-Drawing realistic
-Computer Graphics type stuff (digital imaging, modeling) Is that what its called?


Here is my first portrait I did, its pretty much my first REAL drawing at that. I know it's not very good, but if you artists can give me some advice, that will be great.

Anyway, im pretty much illiterate to all things drawing and computer graphics (which is really what I want to do) A few questions if you dont mind.

1. Are there any websites out there where I can learn the funamentals to computer graphic stuff (Am I even using the right words? You know the kind of stuff you see on this site).

2. Any programs that I will need to buy to do this? If so how much will it cost?

Final Thoughts: I am really interested in drawing. I know im young, but a late starter to the art world, but i really am commited to doing artistic stuff. Thanks!

You can also search the internet for beginners' tutorials in drawing and CG. To draw realistically, you need to have a sound grasp of the basics of drawing and sketching. Here is one that I consider outstanding:

you should definitely check out the Beginner's Lounge (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=297229)in the Anatomy Forum! Assignments and helpful critique from other artists and the Forum Leader!


Also,

quite a nice portrait with nice shading! Lots of potential. Go for it! If you keep it up you will improve vastly. Don't bother too much with the differences between digital and traditional, right now. The fundamentals are pretty much the same everywhere.

Hey good to see people this young take an interest, you have a good eye for proportions and overall gesture.
I think you'll do great if you practice. I used to only draw and got started painting first last summer holiday, so there's definitely hope for you, considering I'm an old sod by comparison. :D

But, to be honest, the 2D WIP forum here can be a little slow sometimes. Sooo if you want a lot of feedback I would suggest posting your work on other forums as well. Of the top of my head I know www.deviantart.com has an enormous community. It would seem that if you post regularly and participate with the community you'll roll along nicely. Combined with the workshops at the anatomy forum you should learn pretty fast.

Forums for 3D are rich in numbers, google 3d plus forums and you'll probably turn up half of them. ;) Good luck, curious to see how you'll progress. :wavey:
