hi, this is my first ever "finished" character model, follow everything in Michel Roger's Joan of Arc tutorial, it takes me ages to rig and now i'm moving to make the clothings, c&c is welcome

I like her face, but her body... Try to work on her body a little more and then make a clothes. Good work:thumbsup:

Her anatomy is no problem since it's an anime style you're after, not photo realistic. But the only thing I notice that is odd is the top part of her butt cheek, in the straight on back view (right most picture), it seems the two butt cheeks are kind of far apart, instead of typical round butt cheeks that touch each other.
But I am only nitpicking your great looking models here, since she'll wear clothes anyway.

I like anime style character, and yours is one of the few I've seen that i like. How long did it take you to design and model her to the final product?

ohh I like this
..looks really nice so far for that exaggerated anime style....
the only thing that sticks out as needing attention is the buttocks...seems a little od shaped..or maybe the cleft is too wide..

I love the face and the rest though
great job!!

hey guys, thx for the comments

titan and vorlon, i agree that the butt is a bit "square" now, maybe the skin is not quite sticking to the bone, i'll fix that next time around, anyway, that's a good point.:)

now still trying to figuring out her outfit...since up to this point i just follow the tutorial, for me it's quite challenge to make the clothing ( i never do that b4), hope to reply to this thread with some pics very soon

love ur encouragement guys:eek:

She is looking pretty good. The body and head are great, cept for but, but I believe the hair line starts just a little too high.

I seriously like the clothes, they fit I think. Very anime-punk-flight attendent-ish

I love the clothing style. It could use alittle more color to it but I think that jewlery would take care of some of that. I usually don't get into anime style characters but this one for some reason has really grabbed me.
GREAT JOB:applause:

Oh yeah! Now that adds alot of life and vibrance to her. I love it!!!! I still think she needs a braclet though. Just alittle something to draw attention down those great arms of hers.

This is great work, I really dig this model. I too was going to mention the gluts but those clothes really bring her to life.

I like it.....get rid of the black toes though...maybe make it look like pantyhose or something...

devonpis
01-04-2003, 03:58 AM
yeah, i also think that the arms is quite bare right now, i still try to find a right pair of braclet, it would be nice if u guys can give me some interesting idea

titan:most of the skin is procedual, only the face, the tarso and the clothes is mapped.
the texture of clothes is just blank except the checkers, and i apply bump map for the wrinkles, so the texturing is quite simple for this model

remi:nice idea, i'll try to make sth and see how it looks like

IDownupI: here u go, i just follow the sub-d method of Joan tutorial and using the same template for the face, though i make a little bit variation

very good. its a good tut, i used it before and made a pritty sweet model, but got stuck on the head.

problems- she looks really plasticy, take the spec way down. also the lighting. use a shadow map to soffen the main shadow, as it looks to harsh and try some very low intenisity lights to add some fill.

have you got a toon shader? might be intresting to see what it looks like in toon shaded.

keep up the good work.

The toes look better...and I think your style is your own...keep it...I like the lighting and texturing...I don't think you need to change much...good work all around...great job and I can't wait to see some more of your stuff...

aurora
01-06-2003, 01:54 PM
Thats what I mean with the braclets!!!:applause: I love the new poses too! I also agree with Remi everything looks great even the toes which I never even noticed till I believe it was Remi, mentioned it. Like I said before I normally don't get into anime style char's but this one is fantastic. Are you going to do any animition seq's of her for us?

devonpis
01-07-2003, 05:10 PM
some updates, just set up a simple scene and tweaked the lighting, what's left is the pistol!

harrad: i also want to try the toon style too, but i don't have max5 right now, maybe try later. have to change many setting if using max4

thx remi and aurora, i don't think i'll do the animation for this one...it takes too long for me to render an animation
