piro1 04-01-2006, 01:20 AM Finished.
I can't keep improving it. I think it is finished. Emily 01 this is the name of the ship.

Almost done, just have to add some details and fix some textures

I tryed with my first space ship. I though it would have been easyer. Hard surface modelling, could be more "hard" than organic.
Aniway, what do you think?

With a claw like that it should be on "Moon Base Alpha" (TV history anyone?), anyway I really like your model! Nice texturing too, image mapped? Are the blue light panels individual objects or some kind of Vector paint? What do you mean by hard?-difficult to model or difficult to demonstrate hard surfaces?
All the best D

Modeling a spaceship is pretty hard, and you've done a much better job then I could at it. The texturing is pretty awesome too. Maybe you can apply some normal mappnig to the sides to help emphasize some depth and dimention to the textured panels. Other then that, it's a nice clean mesh with some nice clean textures. Great work.

I loved that series !!
Just finished designing a kinder garden that is vagely inspired on the Moon Base.

Very nice!
A firend of mine wants me to do some blending for artwork in his Sci-fi roleplaying... Is there any tutorials/giudes/etc you could recormend to aid in the modeling of complex space ship models like the one you created?
Cheers.

No tutorial, but there is a lot of material online to get inspiration
example

surf in this lightwave forum
but I used almost hard surface (cube, extruded hard poligon...)

the blue panels are emitting material (no halo) and then I put 2 blue light near them.

Hey Apollux, won't an "Eagle" squash your vegies?
Thanks Piro1, I forgot about changing selected faces materials, the light panels really add something. I agree that more Normal maps will add usefull detail.
Were the windows also cube extrudes? Any chance of looking at a mesh.
Keep up the good work, it would be great to see this at work over a planet or Moon base :) .

yep. the windows are extruded poligon: firstly I ad a bevel modifier to al the fron of the ship (only the front) and than I fixed the poligon of the windows. I should add some details to the structure around the windows (sorry for my English).
I'll add some bump right now.

bevel modifier? there is no bevel modifier in blender or am i missing something?

in edit mode "w", but it modify all the mesh, or among the scripts "bevel center". it works pretty well and bevel only the edge you select. I don't know why it hasn't been implemented in standard modeler commands.

To me, the design is a bit boring. But I like the way it looks, is posioned and rendered and textured and such, hmmm then again, looking at it again, it reminds me of alien and starcraft. ++++es

Yep maybe it is not a new design.
This is a little postprocess to add some halo stuffs. I changed and fixed a little bit the planet.
Cheers
