I think I've found one part of th problem I have with my ASUS9999 6800 Ultra.
In world of warcraft for example, and now in Elder scrols IV oblivion after some time of playing vertex gone crazy and I see people vith vertexes all around them like extruded faces, In WoW too. I've run both games with temperature monitor for graphic card on other monitor and temp goes up to the 85-86 degrees. And that is now when I have one big home ventilator (not sure for word) turned on to the inside of the chasis and one side of the chasis opened. I don't wanna try to close chasis. With two opterons 250 that goes to 60 degrees when rendering.. nice cooking there. So is 85 degrees when runing games too much?
And I never solved another problem.. all drivers after versino 77.77 (8x.xx) are messed. Viev port in maya doesn't work and in games looks like I don't have "layer". For example can't see login window in WoW but background is there and everything works fine.
Any help here?
Thank you

85C?!! Yeah, that's a bit hotter than I'd like to see! Surprised it'll even run at that temp!

FWIW, the core slowdown temp for the Geforce FX5900/ Quadro FX3000 is 120C.

They are made to run hot.

But I'm still going to water cool mine.

Oh, nevermind then :) I don't have a way of monitoring mine, so I thought based on CPU temps...:D

Get RivaTuner from Guru3d. It will tell you all that.

85 is fine for a graphics card. My 6800 goes up to around those temps playing RTW b4 I went on to watercool the graphics card also just cause I hate the whiny fan. You're most likely going to replace your video card before it finally dies so don't worry.

If you're looking for a replacement heatsink/fan that is both quieter and more efficent then most of the stock units, check out the Zalman VF700 and VF900. I don't know if the VF900 is available yet, but inital reviews show it performing slightly better then the 700, while recovering the slot below the video card.

Zalman products always have speed control for the fans, so you can adjust rpm from silent, to very quiet, depending on use/need.

It's quite depressing that many of the big name manufacturers that used to make specialized cooling rigs for the video cards are just sticking with the OE solutions now. I remember when leadtek used to have the craziest cooling setups...
