Okay, Makaiki means a hell tree in Japanese. I pick Japanese because it is located underneath Japan. The tree at here sucking the blood from the dead people and makes some kind of evil spirit out of it and shooting to the earth surface. That is what I thought the hell looks like.
I got this thinking after watching the movie Constantine. It was so interesting to see the different style of the hell. I was making my own story aout the hell, So, I just came up with my own hell idea. That idea drove me to do this painting.

wow, amazing colors! and i would say - brave idea - from what i remember a tree has always been a symbol of life - it's intersting that you decided to make it symbol of hell.. :) now when i think about it - trees do suck from earth like crazy.. that's it - from now on trees are hell creatures to me..

Yes, impressive work. The various lightings about the place reminds me of tunnel b1, an old playstation game, in ambience. So this piece has a somewhat inadvertant nostalgic value for me ^^. That is one evil tree.
