Fresh news...the deal was just closed this morning (U.S time). nVidia now plans to integrate Ageia's Physix processor into future GPUs.

For more on this:

I should say that Rojakpot has proven to be a very credible source of nVidia news. But this is the 1st of April...so who knows.:)

I know, but the article is dated April 1st. Could be April already where he is.

And yes I did read the article. While it includes some aggressive language towards ATI, it still looks reasonably realistic. Those two have lot of nasty competition going on. Another point, the author would have a lot of questions to answer, and a whole lot to loose, if it turns out he made up this passage:

NVIDIA : ATI has never been good for anything but vapourware. With AGEIA on our side, we will make them eat so much dirt, Canada will disappear off the face of the Earth!

Well if its not then why is it not posted on www.gamesindustry.biz (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/) which usually has information like this posted before anyone else..

I would dought there would be such slander against ATI in a interview as such.

Tell you the truth sounds like a five year old wrote it. Who does not like ATI, this could be dragged into the console war. But I wont go there.

That reads like an article written by a kid. I wouldn't take it seriously.

Well right now we can't really prove it either way...although I think April Fool is a big possibility.

To be honest, I don't really want Ageia to sell out...at least not yet. It will be much better for them -and perhaps for us too- if they remain independent. I prefer to keep the Physix "PPU" as an option. Integrating it into this or that GPU will probably come with it's share of issues, delays and what have you...things we can do without. After all integrating two of the most sophisticated processors in the world isn't done overnight. The Physix chip is initself a huge multi-core processor. The best we could hope to see this year or the next, is a single board with both chips sharing the same high speed memory bus.

That said, I would love to see this technology spread beyond the gaming market, and be as widely adopted as GPUs are.

One more thing...the author is based in Singapore, where it's already April.
