This is an old exercise I did a couple of weeks ago. Took me approximately 6 hours. I wanted somethin with rhytm, rather than a conventional walk cycle. I didnt want a run cycle neither. So i just made this dude bounce happily and sort of be able to play with the weight.

Hope you guys like it

sorry Activemind,

The file size is fine, its 218 kb. The mpg format is the one ive been using for all the video files on my website www.brownproductions.co.uk (http://www.brownproductions.co.uk). Ive tried compressing it on other formats but its just too big to host it on my site.

Have you got QuickTime 7? It should be able to play the clip on the browser without any need to download the file...

I apologyze for this, if anyone can suggest me any other format better than this please let me know.

ok, got it, plays in a browser window, indeed:)
i usually save the files and see them directly from the comp.

Getting back to your animation, i think it's looking pretty good in terms of weight-shifting and squash-stretching, also the motion is pretty cool done, what bugs me the most is that he stays too much on the ground pose, he seems to be stuck on the ground and lifting off is not so "elastic" because of that... wouldnt it be better to have him lift up quicker, spring-like, if it's a bounce? shifting a little bit the keys should help, in my oppinion try keeping him longer in the air than on the ground, so it creates the "bouncy" feeling in the motion.

Should be easy, you can give it a try.

All best wishes!

Thanks for your comments Activemind. Sorry for not replyin earlier :P

Ive been tryin to do a convincing motion with the bouncy effect you pointed out on your last post. I still find there is something missing, i just cant figure it out. I might go deep into it later on.

Ive uploaded two playblasts: one with the bounciness (more keyframes on air and less on ground) and one without, so that you can compare.

www.brownproductions.co.uk/uploads/ravi/bouncy.avi ---> with tweaks
www.brownproductions.co.uk/uploads/ravi/notweak.avi ---> without tweaks

Clips are compressed with Cinepak codec (aprox. 385 kb each). Sorry if this causes any trouble, i just cant find a better way to compress the animations so that everyone can see it (i suck when it comes to techie stuff i guess :P)

Hope you like the update

hi, man

don't worry, files are ok
i myself like better the tweaked one, only suggestion i would still have would be to make the airborne sequence even more "curved", i mean have the vertical motion curve even more arched upwards... i hope you understand what i mean

i've attached a small drawing to make clearer what i mean.

other than that i dont see any other issues, i like it:)

Keep up the nice work!
Cheers,
Virg
