Title: Chung Kwai
Name: paul simms
Country: United Kingdom
Software: Photoshop
My interpretation of an old Chinese painting of Chung Kwai (phonetic spelling) a mythical spirit or ghost catcher he is usually depicted in cartoon style but I liked the idea of bringing him to life a bit. About a days work photoshop cs and wacom.

i like chinese art.... so i mean i like your character here also...
but there is something amiss with the bat... something non chinese in the style of how you painted it... maybe a stronger outline...but i'm not sure
but as you say so... you try to give it a life... that the line arts styles could hardly achieve
over all... i like it

Dude, it's great. Your style shows in all your works. The thing is that, I find it rather curious that You depicted Zhong Kui to be fair of skin, when almost all the drawings that one can find of him depict him as rather dark skinned. But I guess it really boils down to your personal preference.

Very nice style. Clean and bold, with great linework.
Its a nice blend of chinese/ japanese style scroll paintings, and a bit of anime thrown in.

Nice work.Fine line and color.I see in him the making of a hero.
We call him Zhong Kui ,with a popular legend in Tang Empire(618–906 AD).
Traditionally regarded as a vanquisher of demons,he was also a eudemon of home...

This be the diety of Examinations too! In him, ancient chinese scholars saw hope in a career as an official even if they weren't successful with their imperial exams :)
