Just look at those textures, man you've done a really great picture here

Keep up the good work!
Want to see a Sphere next week! ;)

Thatīs awesome man ! I wish i could be that fast !!
In my opinion you could remove that cylinder - would look much better without, but would also take ages to render...
And maybe make the bg white - just a suggestion ;)

wow
I was expecting something amazing from the comments

yep its great, an outstanding piece of work, with some nice textures and a little tweaking this could be awesome, more amazing than 30 Russian dwarfs fighting bare knuckle in an ice rink.

that's awesome!

was that made with 3DS MAX 5.0?

Wow, amazing. Only 30 hours. I canīt believe it.

I agree with BASSit: remove de cilinder and put the bg in white (black it's much better but the render time could be insane). I know that to do that could take weeks, but man, you are going to make history.

Sorry for my English.

P.d. We want a tutorial!!!

Did you try sending a resume to Pixar or Blizzard?

well.. I LOVE IT!!!
great work on the the pic... but a little sugst...
try fixing the tranculency just a bit... and if you tweak the specular highlights on the BG... it'll be Puurrrfect!!!

o and the saturational efect on the shadow pass must be fixed to get the right consistency of the highlight pass. LOL!!!!
whut?

too cool!!!!

ow, sorry but that is a really bad start. I suppose you are new to modelling and your approach is a bit flawed. starting with primitives is a good idea, but dont just stop there! you have got to move on!
keep it up.

Dood, It's 'perfectly' round... WTF :) I've ben trying to get a perfectly round cylinder for about 7 years.

03-09-2002, 06:24 AM
I think you need to fix the proportions -- real cylinders aren't quite that tall. Perhaps you should try working from reference photos...

Dude, I've seen DaVinchi, I've seen Pecaso. But this! wow, theres got to be like at least 30 lights in that picture, you must have quite a machine to render that!

By the way:

wew. man. I don't know what to say! it must have taken ages to learn the techniques you used on this picture! amazing skill, amazing render (btw: what render system did you use? proprietary? or something 'normal' ? if so, how long did it take you to create the light setup? what about the textures? maps or all procedural? )

please send me a little statue that shows you so that I can worship you!

It's not a good piece of work at all!

Am I the only one whos see's this?!?!?!

It's clearly not his own model...

Jhonus
03-09-2002, 06:04 PM
This should probably be linked on the front page of cgchannel.com

Jean Eric, where are you? Come on, this should be getting more publicity.

I think this image is an obvious reference to the current climate of today's society... more specifically the lack of appropriate role-models for children and teenagers alike. The green cylindrical shape obviously harks back to the days of superman's popularity and the strong role-model he created for the youth of the western world. Superman was the personification of good... and the only thing that could disarm him was Kryptonite - symbolised by the green cylinder in the foreground of the image.

Stunning.

Look forward to more images. I'd love to see what you can do in 60hours!

is that GI? wow...i think it could have been improved by being modelled in subs and textured grey, but then i guess time was a factor

03-10-2002, 07:50 PM
Mmmhh, the cylinder should be more cylindrical, you know, with more smooth and one or two spliggo steps. Did you use nurbs for the sphere?
Waiting for the lipsync animation.

Hey meloncully,

itīs amazing. I guess you allready have the right attitude
to enter the next stage.

Relabel other peoples work and call it your own one.
People may call it shameless ripping, but I think this wonīt
worry you too much anyway.

You may also be able to get around really well by just
pretending youīre good, but let otherīs do the work.

This is called Creative/Art Director in some agencies.
Go ahead, youīll make a fortune.

Give me your real name and Iīll be happy to put you
on file here.
