View Full Version : clothing and cloth fx question

hey everyone..

looking for some suggestions as the best approach..

basically i have a character in different poses which will require me to model a cloak..

i want the cloak to drape over him in 2 or 3 different poses..

whats the best approach for this ?

i model the cloak in a seperate layer , then parent it to the character and apply cloth fx ?

i dont have much experience with this but any ideas would be great

There's a video on the newtek website (sorry no link, but it may be the 'Using Collision Objects in Dynamics', I'm not sure) that shows how to do this.
You parent some collision spheres at certain points on your character and set the clothFX of your cloak to only interact with those spheres. This obviously isn't as accurate as using your character model as a collision object but its alot faster.

i think if i was making an animation i would consider this but as this is only for still

images i would perfer to find a different method

unfortunatley i cannot get 3d world magazine where i live..

do they have a website maybe i can check on there?
