Looking good so far. I did a Yugo a few years back:

Render (http://www.3dg.si/images/project15_render1.jpg)
Clay (http://www.3dg.si/images/project15_render2.jpg)
Wire (http://www.3dg.si/images/project15_render3.jpg)

Making Of... (http://crystalmadness.com/wip19.php)

Maybe some of this will help you out. I am looking forward to progress.

Good job so far, your mesh looks clean, but the edge on the front fender near the headlight is a bit weird. Keep up the good work:thumbsup:

Hi,

No critique in general. I just wanted to say it's cool to see someone modelling a regular car - I am getting a bit tired of the flash BMW's and street racers; people have done those to death - a Yugo is a cool change of pace.

@Abishai-RS of course :P

@FastForward ... yeah i can see that i thought it is because of the light... but not... vertex have moved to close... i will fix that ...

@Campione yeah to manny shiny cars! :) my eyes hurt! :P

update... made some small changes + detail... and made rims ... rubber part is just to feel whole object :)

Maybe it's my eyes, but it seems that the edge on the side of the car is lower than the one on the blueprint. And the rear side window is lower than the front one. Shouldn't they be aligned ? Other than that, great job, your modeling seems very clean:thumbsup:

yeah, not so much... it seems people tend to reserve comments for very popular cars, high detail evironments, and nearly complete models with great renders and backgrounds...

It looks like a Yugo to me, but I haven't laid eyes on one in real life since the late 1980s. It looks like you're doing a pretty good job with the model so far. However, as I've already mentioned I haven't seen one since the late 80's so I can't say anything about details and accuracy.

nunyas thank you so much man... i started thinking that noone is watching my work!

well i am trying to model it realistic... because i can see it all around me here in Serbia ... :) the streets are full of this car!

Nunyas

Well, that's cool. It had a _very_ short lived life in the US, though; only a couple of years. I remember it was a very inexpensive car to purchase by US standards of the time. At the time, I think the most comparable cars from other makers were 2 to 3 thousand dollars more than a Yugo. But then again, when they did sell them here, the Yugo was the absolute smallest new car you could buy in the US. It wasn't a very popular car in this part of the world.

Either way, I'd like to see it finished and set in a nice environment :)

good work:thumbsup:

Hi Markovicd, no, you're not alone. I have a look at your work almost every day, but since english is not my native language, I don't comment a lot. I saw the same Yugo 3 days ago (I live in France and we can see a few of them from time to time, French people only like small cars), and it was really in a poor condition. Will you texture yours "clean" or "heavily weathered" ? I keep an eye on it. I'm looking forward to see it in the finished work section. Keep up the good job !

04-13-2006, 09:24 AM
Nunya ... well yugo is still being made here! :) belive it or not they have redesigned it ( just plastic parts of exteriror ) ... :) but it still doesn`t have airbags... terrible... i just watched Die Hard 3 where they are driving yugo :D... and i started laughing...

FastForward thnx mate! :) i didn`t know u are here! ... yes i will go on a dirty textures... bumped and stuff like that... i`ll try to do it as realistic as i can! :)

thnx mates this means very much to me!

markovicd
04-13-2006, 08:31 PM
Kickflipkid687 hehe... that is because i have weak computer... and i need to make scene little "weaker" ... don`t wanna mass things in it! ...

In 3/4 rear view, I can see a strange gap between the hood and the front fender. Is it normal ? And what about the dark area just above the rear wheel, between the edge and the wheel pit : is it a SubD issue or a strange light artifact ? I tried to check on your wire, but the view is almost from the top, so... Keep it up !:wavey:

markovicd
04-13-2006, 09:25 PM
hm yes fastforward... ther is some problem... and this other stuff that u said it is because of the light... don`t know why... btw this is all nursb exept seats inside :)

I'm curious. Why did you choose to model this car in NURBS? The body of the car is very boxy, and I would have thought that poly/box modeling would be relatively easy to model this car with. Is it for practicing or learning the use of NURBS?

markovicd
04-14-2006, 04:46 PM
well i have chosen nurbs because i do mechanical things in nurbs :) ... sometimes polygons but mainly nurbs! and i use patches ... i have only 2 trims on this car... i thought maybe... to play with Dynamics when i finish modeling / texturing / rendering ... to make car explode or something like that...

i like nurbs :D

Nunyas
04-14-2006, 08:37 PM
cool! I tried using NURBS on my WIP for a couple of days but couldn't figure out how to make Maya's Bi-Rail 3+ create a surface. I figured out Bi-Rail 1 and Bi-Rail 2, but for some reason could not get Bi-Rail 3+ to work, and gave up on NURBS at that point.

I'll have to give it another go some time.

markovicd
04-17-2006, 10:02 PM
here is an update... little better render so u can see what is happening!

Nunyas i use loft and extrude... ( loft mainly ) , but i can explain u how birail works if u want to ? :)

http://markovicd.abimc.com/Yugorender/yugo18.jpg

Nunyas
04-17-2006, 11:18 PM
That's ok, I'll get these things figured out eventually (figured out birail over the weekend :D). :) Part of the fun for me is teaching myself how to do it, ya know? :)

As for the updated Yugo, it might be the angle of the render, but the hood/bonnet looks like it's sagging a bit, just below the cowling (the part of the hood that's closest to the windshield).

Keep up the good work!

04-18-2006, 04:09 PM
Nunyas heheh ok if u want it on your owN! learn it then :D... yes u are probably right ... i will have to fix that...
thnx very much

Tsakiris heheh tsakiris not so manny people that share same opinion as u ... but thnx very much for kind words ... u help me go on!

i am busy but there will be probably update in Thursday ( finished modeling ) maybe just to add some little thins ( letters , signs ) ... and then texturing...

Nunyas
04-18-2006, 09:41 PM
Have you thought about applying a shiny material to the model before rendering? It might help out with seeing the contours of the body panels a bit better. It does not have to be a paint shader, something simple like a blinn or a fong material may help detect the irregularities a bit easier. :)

hey dude I`am not good at modeling cars so I can`t crit I just wanted u to know I`am watching impatiently to see it finished keep going

FastForward
04-20-2006, 08:28 AM
Hi man, your Yugo is looking better and better ! Just two little crits : you should give some thickness to the front door to "fill" the gap where a rubber seal should be. And the edge on the front fender near the headlight has still a strange angle. I had a look at some reference pictures and it should be straight. And follow Nunyas' advice : give it a shiny material to see irregularities. Very good job, though.

markovicd
04-20-2006, 11:14 PM
Nunyas there is shinny material while i am working ... but when i render i render it with clay :) ... i will make shinny render for u :P

thebest thnx mate ;)

Hey ! Very good job ! Your render is a bit too grainy and I'm not sure the depth of field is a good idea, but you did a very great job. It's awesome ! (I never thought I could tell that about a Yugo once in my life !;)). Tilted camera and front wheels turned give life to your render. Excellent !

Just noticed one more thing : we still can see "through" the right door and the trunk. maybe you should add some geometry to the body to fill that gap.
Your headlights are awesome.

Da baš si se zezno oko tih vrata pozadi :D Odlično napreduješ svakako. Felne ti samo izgledaju kao da imaju samo prostu diffuse texturu, a da nisu 3d u potpunosti.
