NEW RULE

* You have 60, (count them 60!) minutes to do your sketch.
IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing

Also, I will add a new voting category, called THE FASTEST DRAW
__________________________________________________ _______

yeah, i did. I decided I still had some time to spare so I imported it into ArtRage and moved the paint around some with a palette knife to produce an impasto look. Just an experimentation. Perhaps the original was better, I don't know.

---tag on another ten minutes. :)

i think the original is definateley better since the oily effect looks too much like 'added afterwards to make it look more like an oil painting'

if wou'd painted like that from the beginning it would have been different, i think.

Err, forgive my English??

My hairs are a little darker than that and I've forgotten a spot on the left cheek, but I look pretty much like that (including skin color, I'm super white).

P.S. And if "light" means something else here, I should mention that I'm 1.97 meters tall and over a hundred kilograms. :D

Hi,

This is the first time I post here in the daily sketchgroup - hope I'm not too late for this subject ? It took me precisely an hour in Painter which is kind of a miracle as I normally need a year and a half :scream: . I thought it might be a good idea for me to participate here now and then to learn to work a bit more quickly. I used a mirror.

This is my first go in Painter...ohh, the choice...so many brushes...

On a side note, I'm not that fat. :) Just so you know. Actually, I think this picture looks like me when I was about 12...which, funnily enough, is the last time I did a self portrait.

Well here is my attempt. It sucks because ever since I did something awhile ago my color profile is shot to hell. It used to be fine, but then I messed with the preferences and now any colors I use in Photoshop end up being darker than the saved image. It is almost like when I go to save it gets desaturated. Really wish I could fix this. Temporary fix is using Proof setup of Monitor RGB, but someone told me once not to use that.. so I don't :/

I've got to say, Vahn, I'm liking your style. The brush strokes are so quick and confident and the composition is a simple moment in time instead of a look-at-the-camera kind of thing. Great job!

Nice self portraits - both of them! I love the pain meds in the 2nd one.

I hope all of you DSF-ers who are sick, get on the mend soon! And that's an order!

cheers, hopefully I'll have time to do mine this weekend.

This is about an hour and 15 minutes... Sorry, forgot about the thread....

http://www.jeroencoert.nl/asad/060403.jpg

btw, I found a great trick to do portraits that should look like a real life person.
Do as good as you can, then open your work in Photoshop and use the liquify filter to get the proportions right. Like moving parts of the face around, changing the shape of f.i. a nose... You don't have to do your shading again that way when you made a mistake :D
