Being a newbie to Maya I hope someone can explain what's going on here.

1. I have a model with 9 pinlights attached. I'm trying to add a glow to each light via an OpticalFX node but the glow appears offset from the actual light source. In the attached image 1 pinlight is placed in the center of the yellow bulb to lower left but the actual glow effect is rendered quite a bit to the right - why is that?

2. In the attached image I have two pinlights, both with an OpticalFX node, but only one effect is visible. Is it only possible to have one glow in a scene and that glow is offset from the actual source?

So:
- Is it possible to lock the effect to the actual lightsource so when the light is moved the effect moves with it?
- Is there anyway to get more than one glow effect in a scene?

This is driving me nuts...

I am pretty sure it is one optical fx per scene and it goes to the brightest pixel always

Do it in post ... attach a surface shader to the object for easier keying and then in post key out that color and add a lensflare

Cartesius, did you try Help on OpticalFX from the Attribute Editor’s Help menu? I assign optical fx the way it is recommended there and I’ve never had problems like yours.

Kaiser, you are talking about the Shader Glow which is one per scene and is affected by the brightness of all elements in the scene. Optical fx nodes on the other hand can be as many as you like.
