Hi everybody!

I did this job last year from the middle of Oktober to December. I totally worked 145 hours on it.
I just got an idea for the design of the character and the scene and a few things for the story and of course the song.
A few parts of the modelling were done in Maya, but animation, texturing and rendering I had to do in Cinema4d (First I shouldn't be alone on this project, so I had to use Cinema).
I didn't have enough time at the end and I really got stressed out.
But I finally did it and the result isn't that bad. I would have liked to fix and edit a few things, but I was not able to do that because I left Germany for a half year and I am now going to school in the USA.

This is my second animated short film and I think I have improved in animation since my last short film. I hope you like it somehow, maybe you should turn off the sound, the song is awful, it was a torture to listen to it over and over again. But what would I not do to make my hobby to my job.

Small DivX(33MB) (http://web200.awi1.de/download/download.php?id=12)
Big DivX(44MB) (http://web200.awi1.de/download/download.php?id=11)

Happy about every comment!
Thank you!

You can say the worst thing about the aniomation, I wanna learn from the mistakes. Many I see myself, but maybe you can give me some help to don't do them again. So please help me with this!

Thanks!

I'm no pro. But your animations seem a bit boring is all. When I look at it I'm looking at the animation. That may seem to be obvious but some demo reels I'm simply attracted to the characters and forget that I'm looking at animation. Your demo doesn't do that yet. I think you should start with some live footage. Grab a video camera and act it out first. The best way to make something look natural is to act naturally. Sounds simple but it ain't. The best actors don't act kinda thing. It sounds like a cliche but it's about selling an idea. The best sales people truely believe in what they are selling so it's natural. Like a mother talking about how wonderful her child is.

Anyway your animation has good fundamentals but fundamentals aren't interesting, characters are. Create new, original and interesting characters or you're audience is just chewing the chewed. Your animation will be like an old piece of gum soaked in artifical flavoring over night.

The animation is not bad at all, but somehow it's not working over an extended period. It could be that you ran out of gas, as you said there was a crunch. The soundtrack is really brutal, to be honest. I mean, goodness. I realize that you had to listen to it over and over again, too, to synch certain things, and honestly, you deserve some sort of medal for just that.

What you can say at the end of this is that you planned and executed an idea, and finished it. You now have a better idea of what goes into this sort of short animation, and some more personal experience, and that's a great thing. The next time, your work will be better, and you're a step up just for trying and finishing.

Keep on truckin'.
