View Full Version : Kid Head for Animated Short - Lightwave
HieSpike 12-25-2002, 06:04 AM Hi, I've never posted here before...so, I hope I'm doing this right (especially since I haven't read the rules yet-sorry).
Either way, here is the head of a character I've been working on for an animated short I'm doing for school. He's supposed to be cute and full of appeal. I'm hoping to win the sympathy of the audience with his innocence and then get them to empathize with him through the story.
So, I just thought I'd post this here...since I just spent two days figuring out what to do with his hair.
I hope to hear from you guys on what you think.
I'm always willing to accept critisism (even on my spelling)!
Thanks,
Kane
p.s. what's a poll?...I guess we'll find out.

Nice. I'd move the hair a bit lower, and the counour of the head can have some refinement. :)

Hi,
Well...thanks for the reply (and I mean that in the singular).
In case the image wasn't readable enough for a reply, here's one of the full body.

his body seems to be too long.
cute eyes, the entire face reminds me a bit of a porcelean (spelling?) doll, but maybe that was your intention. i would give him eyebrows. will probably help you with expressions when animating him as well :wavey:

So I'm finally finished with the hair and the eyebrows.
I'm now going to finalize the head and the UV map for the face..and then on to the rest of the body.

I really like him, but something about the hair seems off to me, like he's just been to the beauty parlor and not the barber shop, or was using mom's blow dryer and curlers or something. The hair is too... um... foofey? (don't know what word I'm looking for there lol)

Hiespike If you want him to look more innocent and adorable dialate the pupils a little. They're too contracted at the moment like he's staring into a bright light, widen them up and give him the doe eye look .

Whew,
I finally finished texturing and rigging.
I still have to go back and adjust ALL the weight maps since he's deforming incorrectly in some places, but I'm almost there!
Then I can build the environment and the other characters and being animation.
peace,
Kane

He still seems really long waisted you need to shorten his stomach area a bit right now he looks stretched.
