Here is my first attempt at a mecanical charater. Up untill now I've only done humans and animal charaters. Any c&c would be welcomed.

looking good

the metal is very dull grey though, but i guess that will change as it's only for test purposes as you're modelling it. nice concept, kinda giger-ish in some ways.

it may just be the angle, but eh forearms look a little short compared with the upper arms. that's my only crits, otehrwise it's a beautiful robot. looking forward to seeing it once it's fully constructed and in situ :)

The construction is fairly well built. I would like to see more detail brought to the head area, currently the arms are attracting too much attention and the head and chest seem uninteresting compared to the lovely detail you put into the arms. This is going to look awesome when it's finished!

its looking great so far but there doesnt seem to be any real way for the arms to move around the elbow joint, keep it coming and lose the texture for now it lets us see the model itself without distraction

Here is a updated version of the robot. I still have to model the legs. I'm also going to create new elbows. Those sphears look realy horrible.:hmm:

that's looking cool... though now the arms look too big for teh body overall... but maybe taht's just camera angle again. love the new head. much better... looking kinda sinister

he he he, I think really long arms would make it look even more sinister :)

Good progress! The first pic gave the impression of ultra small forearms

Quite nice! I like the complex spine and neck.

 but the hips don't look bulky enough.

I did have them a bit bigger but it looked like he was wareing a diaper.:shame:

You can imagin what that would look like on a charater like this. :argh:

Here is the same image but slitly modifyed in photoshop.(with slietly bigger hips) I think it's looking pretty cool just the way it is now without texturing.

Excellent! If it was me, though, I'd make the legs more massive. He looks a little top-heavy.

Well, I've finished it of and posted the final (although low-res as compared to the psd I have) pic in the gallery forum. This will probably be one of my last projects in C4D as I will be going to school to learn Softimage XSI in a few days. :hmm:

I hope I still have time to work on C4D though. God how I love it so.

Should be fun having a chance to learn XSI. Good luck!
