Is it technically possible in today's film production to shot a scene twice, once with the subject and second without the subject, while the camera is moving, for a difference matte and avoid a laborious rotoscoping?

Are there such advanced mechanical rigs?

thanks!

Yup sure, it's called motion control. Google comes up with quite a few results if you want to investigate further...

Difference Matte sounds better than actually how good is for a matte. Subtle detail, like the grain of film, or noise on video make it particulary diffficult to use it. Almost always, you need to use some other method to refine the matte, and of course all this need to be done with blue/red/greenscreen to work properly.
