Does Anybody know why Options in multipass is greyed out? I read all these threads where people say "just click options" and presto.... well I'm about to go freaking crazy. and I have all the proper settings with camera etc. I've done my reading in many many threads, there is just no option. eef and psd give you options. but no RLA or RPF. Is there something that needs to be loaded in the main cinema folder that I don't have?

pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeze help! Anything!

What options are you hoping to find exactly?

(Oh and BTW the link in your signature doesn't work.)

thanks for the heads up on the link. My fingers get a little ahead of them selves.

Options - the only "options" I can think that the fine folk of maxon mean are in the multipass settings. when you choose what format you are going to output to. whether it is going to be a psd, tiff, quicktime. Right now if I choose psd I get the options button on the right to activate. clicking it will give me the option to output to Photoshop 7. If I choose quicktime, I get the option to output to codec. If I choose RLA or RPF it is not active. This is the only thing (option wise) I have been able to derive from Creative Cow, DMN, or cgtalk.

my whole point is to export the data in the RLA or RPF so i can use it in after effects to composite 3D Channel information.

I've provided stills to get a better idea of what i think "option" means when i read about "options" in forums or the Cinema manuals.

Ah, ok, I see the problem. The options are available in the save settings, not Multi-Pass. If you select RLA or RPF as your format in Render Settings-> Save, then you will be able to select your options

Thanks so much Will. Boy you'd think that would be something that would be distinguished in the manual. And life goes on.

No problem. Interesting really... I figure you must do the majority of your renders as Multi-Pass, and therefore don't spend much time in the save->format area. Therefore, it never occurred to you to go there, as it is not a normal part of your work flow. I had a similar experience, when I first got into Multi-Pass, where I would use the Primary Save field and Multi-Pass. I felt like I dolt when I realized that including RGBA Image as one of the passes, and using that primary save area was redundant. oh well ;).

PS.. I noticed that we are geographically near.. It might behoove us to network a little. As a C4D artist with FCP certification, it seems we might have some overlapping interests.. send me a PM if interested.
