started off with the chameleon. Here's an attempt at nurbs modelling, this is its arms..

Welcome to the challenge! Nice work on the Chamelion so far, I don't fully understand the background in the sketch but it looks pretty action packed :D

ops! bad sign! thanks for the comments M477 ;j I guess if i have to explain, which in this case i do, i'd have failed to illustrate the point across x p

in the background, is an entrance to a circus, the entrance to it, bears the resemblance of a clown's mouth, its tongue lashes out to become a spiralling pavement, i was trying to play ard with some perspective, the swirls of the pavement is an inspiration from the moebius strip.. and yeah..yada yada~ ;j

I figured it'll be better if I revert back to poly, since I wouldn't have much time to dabble around with nurbs patches at this stage

Kind of 3 fingers and 3 thumbs... strange but also great for gripping small branches :D

finished modelling in Mirai, may or may not be bringing this guy in to zbrush for some of its magic. Reason being I'm not very familiar with the application itself ;/

i'll be modelling the rest of my characters in Mirai as well. Seems like people cease to use this application altogether now (grrr.. zbrush!) Anyway if there's anybody in the community here, I do hope we can exchange a few tips sometimes due to the lack of forum boards, not to mention tutorials around ; j

This is the final mesh out from Mirai, before I import it into zbrsuh for sculpt. Its free of illegal triangles, and edge has been looped for easy animatable/pose later ;j

comments?

hi SajNT, your ideea good, alows you to make a very fantastic and interesting compozition, and your modelling skills are quite good, i think wi'll be a great work. keep up [and speed up ;)] your good job.

ps: and a kind of advice, try to go on with your scene setup before get in to zbrush for details, begin with your bigger objects and continue with the small ones, you control better your compozition, at a poit you may observe that you don't need an object [or smth like that] and you need another thing for example, you'll be more eficient that way, and some of your scene component may not have needs for details, details is refinements actually, witch is better to be don at a higher level o wip, around final. I hope i make sense to you... and, of course, you can ignore what I say, everybody has It's own way of doing things :).

thanks BAM for yer comments. I guess I was too anxiouos to get into zbrush having little apparent knowledge of how it works. I don't think i can finish the competition in time, since i entered at such a later date.haha anyway point taken,i'll start working on the other pieces right away ; j

yeah BAM, thanks for your comments. Seems like you are the only person who'd go the extra mile of replying to this thread. Maybe its the lack of fancy renders?:D hehe anyway thanks alot, its both comforting and encouraging:)

I'll move on to the clown soon after i finish up with this guys tongue, and refining the plates at the tail part. All the best in your challenge as well! ; j

model is 90% finished. Just need some final tweakings.

hi SajNT, it's lookig good, you should make some muscle on the model [dunno, take a reptile or smth like that as a model]... but maybe this is the 10% left and you know already :)

ps: don't worry about replays, all things at their time, you go on, when someone has somethig to say be sure that will do so ;)

SajNT
04-05-2006, 10:58 PM
Thanks BAM for the comments. Yeah I was thinking of defining the muscles in zbrush, where I can sculpt the mesh into a more organic flow. The same goes for the chameleon. As u've already mentioned in yr previous post,i've gotta step things up abit, there's still the clown and the background to be modelled:D

Anyway thanks a bunch for your comments and keep it coming!

(p/s: Looking forward to your updates as well :))

As i was sketching the concept drawing of the clown, i came up with this idea.2 pet creatures fighting for something.. still developing though, so feel free to comment! that is if anyone bother to ;p

BAMU
04-06-2006, 07:23 AM
me again :)... well it's an interestig concept but doesn't seems to fit very well on the journey "stuff", first concept it's much better [personally I really like it], so you should stik on it, it has a great potential to became a very nice and colourful work. You think about it... ;)

SajNT
04-06-2006, 12:16 PM
:arteest: you've got a point there BAM. The lack of comments had me thinking if its my concept that sucks or just, everything on the contrary. So I thought I'd change the concept to something more dynamic, like a struggle, a journey for both creatures to reach the scissors to cut themselves free.

I guess I'd go back to the first one then (at least I got the clown concept out!:P). It'll be kinda similar to yours, the bridge will contort itself around, like a mobius strip. Thanks for the feedback BAM, it was gold :lightbulb

Here's Flurry again, after a few sculpts in zbrush to define its muscles..moving onto the clown next

BAMU
04-09-2006, 09:58 AM
go go go! :)
he looks very well, after you define the overall look of your clown make and the brige [not very detailed] and see what angle you stick on, in this way you'll see if are some places witch doesn't need too much detail or other who does. keep it up

ps: I'm really conviced tht your ideea has a lot of potential [and a lot of work too], thats why I'm stiking around.

Crazy modelling, very good! The only thing that looks a bit off is the jaw, maybe make the middle of it a bit smaller to get a more lifelike/dynamic shape :)

SajNT
04-09-2006, 01:36 PM
Thanks for your reply BAM,you're always so encouraging :)
Though at some point of time I had wished to give up on this competition altogether.Mainly because work has began piling up on me :D

I'll post the clown updates soon, maybe juz the face ; j

SajNT
04-09-2006, 08:14 PM
Joblh, thanks for the comments. The middle of the jaw? You mean from the front? Sorry I don't really get what you mean

Joblh
04-09-2006, 08:26 PM
well, now i think of it, more from the beginning of the jaw to the tip gradually make it smaller and more curved like this (http://www.mister-toad.com/photos/lizard/Crotaphytus_bicinctores_b.jpg) :)

SajNT
04-10-2006, 01:23 AM
thanks Joblh, i'll look into sharpening the snout a little. But right now, i'll be working on the clown. Too much work and too little time! ; j

SajNT
04-15-2006, 01:37 PM
:) thanx zazi, he's suppose to be the trainer of the other 2 creatures i've built. spend quite abit of time workin around the area of his mouth though, to get the skin conform more naturally and avoiding common "mouth" mistakes:arteest:
