View Full Version : Texturing Your Creation
newfieplayer 03-29-2006, 01:22 AM Hi all.
I am new to this forum but not new to Rhino. I have many finished projects but I always resort tp searching the net for textures. They could end up too small/big stretch too much, etc. Is there a add-on for rhino or maybe a technique that I am unaware of to bet a better look to my projects? A lot I see of other people look very realilistic but mine are usually from the basic color scheme.
Check out some of my older stuff I make a while back and please help me on this.

I look forward to all your help.

remember models need more than textures to look good
A key point in texturing is to add variation to the texture ,even carpet has no obvious pattern.
if you were making a brick wall, use many different brick types but slightly different so it doesnt look repetitive.
Im not sure texturing will give you the result you want, it all depends on what your making.
your best bet is to post something in the wip section and get feedback on how to improve it.
There is also a forum for textures with links to many libraries .

Hi Steve, Well you've just asked the million dollar question !!! How to get models to look realistic. Well to be honest with you it to some degree depends on the subject your modelling, but its normally down to a combination of materials and lighting and of course the quality of your render engine !!
what are you using to render ??? If you are stuck with the default rhino render engine to be honest with you its not very good and you will struggle to create fairly realistic renders (although ive seen a couple of guys do it !!)
It also really depends on what your modelling for example a product visualisation model set up is very different to say a outdoor scene. As Karl has said post a WIP shot of a model and we'll try and point you in the right direction. So sorry i can't nail it for you in one post Steve and ive probably left you with more questions than answers LOL. So lets see what you got and where we can go !!

Great Idea. I make a quick rendering of an old Digital Camera I had Laying Around. I made this a year or so ago so the quality is not good.
Is there a way to get a better finish on something like this.

I am looking for, possibly a program, to do to skinning/texturing.
Thanks a lot :-)

just uninstall the trial and install the full flamingo, that should work.
the install should request the serial on startup.
